Political Awareness and Political Participation of Northwestern University Students

This study investigated the political awareness and political participation of Northwestern University students. The study participants were students of Northwestern University from all colleges who were enrolled during the first semester of Academic Year 2022-2023, chosen using a stratified proportional random sampling technique to arrive at a sample size of 360 respondents. This study explores the political awareness of the students, political participation of students, and the relationship between the profile of the respondents and the political awareness and political participation of the students. The data was obtained through an online survey utilizing Google Forms and shared through Messenger, and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. The study employed a descriptive-correlational research design to measure the political awareness and political participation of Northwestern University students. The data revealed that the level of political awareness of Northwestern University students is very high, while the level of political participation is high. The findings also revealed in the relationship results that the profile of the respondents and the political awareness and political participation of Northwestern University students are, for the most part, not statistically significant. However, the results revealed a significant relationship between status of students in student organizations and political awareness, and a significant relationship between 2nd year students and political participation.
